A Feminine Embodiment Practice to Calm Your Nervous System, Nourish Your Bones and Boost Your Libido

Today I want to share one of my favorite go-to practices for when I’m feeling wired and tired, having trouble sleeping and just plain overwhelmed, out of sorts and in need of some grounding.

Bone breathing is aTaoist breathwork practice that’s wonderful for finding your calm, replenishing your reserves, improving your immunity and nourishing your libido. It’s also a great way to improve your bone health.

This ancient practice uses breath and visualization to bring life force or Chi from nature into the body to vitalize and strengthen the bones and promote a sense of calm and wellbeing.

From the Taoist perspective, every part of the body, can breathe, including our bones. There are several variations of Bone Breathing. The one I’ll share with you here is my favorite. It’s really simple but the effect it has depends on your focus and your willingness to cultivate the ability to feel energy or chi.

We begin with a purging exercise to cleanse the bones and then a toning exercise where we “drink” in Earth energy through the fingertips and toes using visualization and focused breath.

You can do this in bed, on a yoga mat on the floor, or (my favorite way) outside in nature.
